The Decideds (GYPSY + REGGAE)
The Decideds are a rootsy-dubby-funky-latin-jazzy-gypsy 8 piece band formed in 2020 featuring a who’s who’s of local musical talent! Weaving intricate Latin beats, punchy ska-inspired horn lines, haunting Gypsy melodies, belty-diva female vocals, and witty song-writing that brings to mind that meme where Leo DiCaprio’s toasting and being all like “well done sir!” – The Decideds are guaranteed to get even the most socially-distanced crowd up and dancing!
Kopasetic (ROOTS + REGGAE)
Kopasetic are a roots, folk and reggae five piece who draw from a diverse range of musical influences for their unique originals, contemporary covers and instrumentals. Kopasetic’s original music is riddled with soundscapes from around the world and has created a “deep, heavy dialect of folk music”. The off-beat music is characterised by the presence of thought-provoking lyrics, deft fingerstyle guitar, lead bass work and a worldly drum presence. For an acoustic band, Kopasetic’s sound is a powerhouse.
Kim Yang (INDIE FOLK)
Kim creates music for the soul. With her ethereal blend of sounds, she creates music that balances delicately between vulnerability and power. Her bushfire tribute Garden of Eden received 4.5 stars from Triple J’s Roots ‘n’ All Host, Nkechi Anele, who said: ‘Kim Yang is a force of nature, and she humbles me’. Recently supported Ben Lee, Josh Pyke and Tori Forsyth on their tour to Canberra, Kim is set to release her new music in September and go on tour again.
Bobby James (BLUES + FOLK)
Acoustic based folk/blues ballads, with soaring bass lines and worldly beats, wrapped together neatly by rhythmic piano/keyboard
Finn Burton (SOLO ACOUTIC)
Finn Burton is a 20 year old singer-songwriter from Canberra. She started writing songs at 15, which are best described as soft, sweet, acoustic tunes about love, growing up, losing yourself & then finding yourself again – all whilst being painfully awkward and shy along the way. Finn has supported local Canberra artists including Lucy Sugerman, Lisa Richards & Kopasetic, and has worked with organisations such as Girls Rock! Canberra. She is now emerging on the local scene in her own right – currently recording her first EP with Guyy Lilleyman from Amberley Studios, and her debut single “closer” is coming… very soon! Finn works and creates on Ngunnawal Country.
Sri Lustri (INDIAN GUITAR SOUNDSCAPES)
Sri Lustri Experience takes you on a meditative journey through effects laden guitar compositions, synthetic beats and Indian inspired soundscapes. Matthew Lustri explores sonic experiments and improvised ragas ranging from the mellow to the psychedelic, joined by Liam O’Connell on effects/samples.
